Costumes, Cocktails, And Questionable Decisions
October is here, which means perfectly reasonable adults everywhere are spending money on costumes they’ll wear once, putting plastic skeletons in their yards, and pretending candy corn is food.
Honestly? We’re in.
Because if there’s one thing Parrotheads understand, it’s that life gets considerably more interesting when you stop taking yourself so damn seriously.
Normal Is Overrated
Most of the year, society expects a certain level of respectable behavior.
Then October rolls around and suddenly nobody questions why the guy next to you is dressed like a pirate, someone has vampire teeth in their pocket, and a grown woman wearing a witch hat is ordering another margarita.
It’s beautiful.
Halloween isn’t really about pretending to be someone else. It’s about giving yourself permission to be a little ridiculous.
Parrotheads have been practicing for years.
Costumes Are Better With Commitment
There’s wearing a costume. And then there’s committing to the costume.
We’re talking pirate swagger. Dramatic vampire entrances. Witches who refuse to walk anywhere when they could make an entrance instead. Maybe even that one PHriend who insists their Hawaiian shirt and sunglasses qualify as a costume because they’re dressed as “a guy on vacation.”
We’ll allow it.
The point isn’t winning a costume contest. The point is having enough fun that somewhere around cocktail number two, everybody forgets who’s supposed to be pretending.
Enter the Midnight Masquerita
Of course, questionable decisions require proper hydration.
This month’s Midnight Masquerita brings a little darkness to the tiki bar with a mysterious Halloween twist worthy of the season. It’s bold, tropical, slightly wicked, and exactly the kind of frozen concoction that looks innocent right up until you realize you’ve already finished it.
Consider it the official cocktail of saying, “One more won’t hurt.”
History suggests otherwise.
But that’s tomorrow’s problem.
Every Good Story Starts Somewhere
Nobody remembers the October night when everybody behaved themselves, went home early, and made excellent decisions.
You remember the pirate who wouldn’t break character.
The vampire who lost a fang in their drink.
The skeleton attempting to dance in flip flops.
And the PHriend who disappeared for twenty minutes and returned wearing somebody else’s costume with absolutely no explanation.
Those are the stories that survive.
Make It Worth Retelling
That’s really what October is offering us.
One more excuse to gather the PHlock, laugh too loudly, dress a little ridiculously, raise something cold with good PHriends, and create another story that’ll get better every time somebody tells it.
So find a costume. Pour a Midnight Masquerita. Make a few decisions that are questionable enough to be memorable but smart enough that everyone makes it home safely.
The rest? We’ll sort out in November.
Fins Up, masks on, and here’s to the kind of nights that become legendary by breakfast.
